Before You Travel
Is it safe to travel to Uganda?
Yes, Uganda is generally considered safe for travelers. It’s important to take standard precautions such as avoiding isolated areas at night and staying aware of your surroundings. During your safari, our expert tour guides will ensure your safety, and our tour manager is available 24/7 to address any concerns.
What vaccinations are required before traveling to Uganda?
A yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Uganda. If you cannot receive this vaccination, you will need a medical exemption certificate, which is part of the visa application process. While malaria prophylaxis is recommended, it is not mandatory. Consult your healthcare provider for personalized health advice.
Do I need a visa to travel to Uganda?
Yes, most travelers require a visa and a valid passport to visit Uganda. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date. A tourist visa costs US$50 and is valid for 90 days. Apply online through the Uganda Visa Application portal.
What is the best time to visit Uganda?
Uganda’s climate is generally favorable throughout the year. However, the dry seasons from June to August and December to February are considered optimal for wildlife viewing and trekking. During these periods, animals are more concentrated around water sources, making sightings easier.
What should I pack for a trip to Uganda?
Pack lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for warm weather, sturdy shoes, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), insect repellent, a first aid kit, travel documents (passport, visas, vaccination certificates), and necessary medications. Binoculars and a good camera are recommended for safari activities. Avoid bright colors when going on wildlife safaris.
