Tips for Planning Your Gorilla Trekking Trip to Rwanda
Stay Close to the Park
For a smoother morning, choose a lodge close to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters at Kinigi. It saves time and gets you to the trailhead faster.
Book in Advance
Gorilla permits and lodges sell out quickly during high season (June–September and December). To avoid missing out, it’s best to book your trek and accommodation at least 3 to 6 months ahead.
What the Permit Covers
Gorilla trekking permits cost $1,500 per person. This covers your time with the gorillas—but not your meals, transport, or lodging. We’ll help you arrange those separately.
Trekking Rules to Respect
To help protect the gorillas and their habitat:
- Stay at least 5 meters away
- No flash photography
- No smoking within 200 meters
Best Time to Visit
The best weather for trekking is during the dry seasons:
December to March and June to September. Trails are easier, and views of the volcanoes are often clear.
Your time in Rwanda is about more than just seeing gorillas—it’s about the full experience. The lodge you choose should make your journey even more memorable. With Nandi Adventures, you can relax knowing we’ve already done the homework. We’ll match you with the right lodge based on your preferences, your pace, and your sense of adventure.
Let’s Plan Your Stay
Whether you’re dreaming of high-end elegance, eco-chic charm, or meaningful midrange comfort—we’ll help you find the lodge that matches your trekking style and spirit.
